The series was hailed for its characters, plots, settings, and mythology. In a nutshell, it is a “combination of battle manga and horror comic manga”.
Jujutsu Kaisen Netflix – Plot summary
The narrative centers around a high school student, Yuji Itadori, an unnaturally fit high school student living in Sendai with his grandfather who joined JuJutsu Sorcerers who were on a quest to destroy a powerful curse, Ryomen Sukana where Yuji is the host.
As fate or destiny would have it, Yuji in spite of being exceptional in sports joins the Occult Research Club, as it allowed him his own few wills to attend whenever he pleases and also visit his dying Grandfather in the hospital.
The Jujutsu Sorcerers were people who helped control negative energies in the body, helping people to use them in a good way and sometimes also reduce their release.
the imagination and creativity of the writers are on a god-tier pedestal with the concept of the cursed energy dominating the manga. If you are a fanatic of Adventure, dark fantasy, and supernatural, you can definitely binge-watch this 24 episode series streaming on Netflix.
Sunghoo Park’s anime gets you all hooked up with impeccable animation skills by Mappa. It questions the very stereotype of Shonen anime and showcases modern humanity in its truest essence.
It showcases the fact that all living beings ensue energy known as the Cursed Energy which is a result of the negative emotions that are mostly present in human beings. These negative energie cannot be controlled by normal people and hence the emission of these cursed energies results in the birth of curses.
These curses were mainly in the form of gruesome monsters whose primary desire was to bring harm to humanity.
The rising point of the series occurs when Yuji is instructed by his Grandfather with two powerful messages:
● Always help people
● Die surrounded by people
Yuji however misinterprets these messages and comes to a conclusion that his grandfather meant to say that everyone “deserves a proper death. As a first-year Jujutsu student, Yuji befriended Megumi Fushiguro, a sorcerer who had the capability to control curse animals called “shikigami”.
Megumi also informs him of a high-grade cursed talisman, a rotting figure at his school which was unsealed and the occult members attracted curses to the school.
These creatures, as I told before were the monsters with negative emotions and their strength exceeded when they consumed magical powers present in sorcerers.
Yuji had made it his sole responsibility to protect the school from the curse hence he swallows the finger of the rotting figure thereby becoming the host.
The rotting corpse, Sukuna was of extremely evil nature, thereby making it imperative for the entire sorceress to exorcise him and thereby Yuji as he has swallowed his finger.
However, Yuji had an extremely stable mindset as he did not let the cursed forces get the better of him and had immense control over his body which impressed Satoru Gojo, Megumi’s mentor. Gojo opts for taking him to the Tokyo Prefectural Jujitsu High school to postpone Yuji’s death sentence.
He proposed to let Yuji swallow all of Sakuna’s fingers which would allow them to kill Sakuna. However, the plan is sabotaged on a mission to a detention center that was infested with a “curse womb”. On this mission, Megumi has to witness the most dreadful scene of all Sukana ripping Yuji’s heart out and he dies of blood loss.
However, Yuji retains his life but that is only known to Gojo and a select number of others. He continues to hide his presence and trains under the mentorship of Gojo who teaches him cursed techniques. Yuji survives the Sakuna possession.
There are dramatic twists intertwined with the introduction of :
● the group of cursed spirits plotting a dangerous attack on the world of Jujutsu sorcery.
● The cursed spirit Mahito, whose “idle transfiguration” can reshape the soul of any human.
● Suguru Geto, a disgruntled Jujutsu sorcerer.
However, Gojo defeats Jogo, one of the cursed spirits who had initially scared him. Yuji in his attempt to kill Mahito befriends Junepai. But Junepai breaks it off when his mother gets killed by the cursed spirits. Mahito also kills Junepai. Even though Yuji and Namai try to fight Mahito, Sakna helps him to escape.
Yuji reveals his revival to the world at Kyoto’s goodwill event. While some want him dead, others along with Gojo try hard to keep him alive. Then begins the fight against Mahito and Hanami by Yuji, Todo, and other Jujutsu students and staff. Gojo defeats them but missed Mahito stealing artifacts from their storage.
The next sequence occurs when Yuji comes across two brothers who are both a Cursed womb: death APinting with a curse and human blood. Though he defeats them he regrets it as he realizes that they both have physical bodies and it was Yuji who had destroyed their tightly knit bond.
The Shibuya Incident Arc, Itadori’s Extermination, and Culling game arcs are a few of the most important incidents of the series.
The anime will leave a good feeling by the end of it and you cannot wait to binge on the next season when you complete it. It is one of the best anime to binge-watch with your loved ones. So what are you waiting for? Head over to Netflix to watch Jujutsu Kaisen.
The characters written in this anime have a wide fanbase as it easily establishes a connection with the audience. The characters are strong, fun, and also badass which brings about a sense of thrill and enjoyment for the audience. Though many scenes drain the audience emotionally.
However, the girl characters are not shown to be stereotypically gossip mongers and support characters but they inspire the audience.
The villains of this series are both the most dangerous villains of all time and the coolest. There is almost no mistake you can point out in the series and the funniest part of each episode is the strolls at the end.
