A Bollywood film unquestionably rests on the shoulders of its leading performers. A lot of effort indeed goes into producing a film, but ultimately, what viewers see on screen are the actors. On occasion, though, the ensemble cast excels while the protagonists fall short. So much so that the major players are sidelined! And there are a tonne of such amazing actors in Bollywood.

Choocha (Fukrey)
Anything can be forgotten, but the recognizable “Choocha” cannot. There’s no doubt that Varun Sharma’s Choocha served as the fukrey film’s central theme. With just one performance, Varun Sharma, who had no prior experience in the field, managed to carve out a niche for himself.
Pappiji (Tanu Weds Manu)
We all started wishing for a wingman like Deepak Dobriyal after witnessing Tanu weds Manu. Deepak, who played the endearing Pappiji, stole our hearts and contributed to the incredible chemistry that Kangana Ranaut and Madhavan had.
Kumari Pinky (Udta Punjab)
Alia Bhatt wasn’t visible to us until she discovered a medicine packet in the fields. We would like to see more of the anonymous Bihari girl who ended up laboring in Punjab’s fields and becoming enmeshed in the drug trade without any fault of her own.
Circuit (Munnabhai MBBS)
Arshad Warsi’s character Circuit from the Munnabhai Series rose to prominence as one of the most endearing supporting characters in the Hindi film industry. He was the ideal criminal accomplice Munnabhai could have asked for. “Bhai ne bola karne ka toh karne ka” was Munnabhai’s equivalent of Genie’s to Alladin.
Ali (Dhoom)
Similar in tone to Munna Bhai, the Dhoom film series would not have been the same without Chopra’s humorous depiction of Ali, a local bike racer who turns police informant and assists Abhishek Bachchan’s character, no-nonsense cop Jai Dixit.
Saif Ali Khan (Go Goa Gone)
A fake Russian from Delhi who fights drugged-out zombies from his home in Goa. He might be the star of a great comedy movie. Furthermore, a lot may be stated about the guy because we don’t know a lot about him.
Pappu Master (Om Shanti Om)
The smash hit Om Shanti Om (2007) directed by Farah Khan and starring Shah Rukh Khan is well-known for being Deepika Padukone’s first film. As Om’s devoted friend, Talpade’s Pappu Master did everything in his power to assist Om realize his aspirations of becoming a superstar, from helping him find Shanti again to helping him exact revenge on Mike, the villain expertly portrayed by Arjun Rampal.
Vijaylakshmi (Queen)
Vijaylakshmi, played by Lisa Haydon, is every Indian mother’s worst nightmare: a self-assured, free-spirited single mother who sleeps with random guys in hotel rooms and teaches Rani how to have fun in the city of love without even requiring a man. Vijaylakshmi helped Rani on her path of self-discovery.
Avi (Yeh Jawani Hai Dewwani)
While he is now a well-known actor in his own right, having starred in films such as Malang (2020) and Aashiqui 2 (2013), Kapoor’s critically lauded debut role was as Avi in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), directed by Ayan Mukerji. Reminiscent of a troubled brother-in-arms rather than a sidekick, Aditya Kapoor played the part of a lost guy struggling with addiction to alcohol and gambling.
Chatur Ramalingam (3 Idiots)
Come on now. We’re all familiar with silencers, right? The pet of the smug teachers. The guy who gets the best grades despite knowing absolutely nothing about the subject. The most “Chamatkari” character we have seen on screen is Silencer, by far. Omi Vaidya did an amazing job portraying a persona that simultaneously makes us laugh until our stomachs hurt and manages to irritate the living daylights out of us. Silencer, do change.
Bandya (Chup Chup Ke)
As a humorous figure, Rajpal Yadav has performed brilliantly in several films, including Waqt and Hungama. His entrance and comedic timing as Bandya in the Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor film Chup Chup Ke lighted up the screen. His multifaceted persona, adept at everything from shoe shine to laundry, upholds the film’s comedic and dramatic elements.
Murari (Ranjhanaa)
“Pyar na hua, tumhara UPSC ka exam ho gaya hai..10 sal se clear hi nhi ho rha hai.” Murari, the closest friend of our hero, was portrayed by Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. He told Kundan straight out that what he was doing was wrong, as he always knew. However, he continued to always assist and encourage Kundan, as that is what friends are for. This candid, kind, and sometimes brusque Banarasi man most definitely deserves a narrative of his own.
