Vikram Vedha (2022)
Vikram Vedha is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language neo-noir action thriller film written and directed by Pushkar–Gayathri and is a remake of the 2017 film of the same name.
Though a commercial failure, the remake gave us a never-before-seen avatar and performance of Hrithik Roshan and very formidable performances of Saif Ali Khan and Radhika Apte. The film was in many ways better than the original, in terms of scale, production, cinematography, and dialogue writing, even after following the same premise of the Tamil film.
Vikram, a reputable Lucknow police officer, is trying to capture and destroy the gangster Vedha. But in a shocking turn of events, Vedha surrenders himself to the police and begins telling Vikram stories. The boundaries between good and evil get confused. Vedha conflicts with Vikram’s morality, whereas the other thinks he is honest and fair.
But is he? The film explores these questions, which surround morality, vengeance, and righteousness, loosely following in the footsteps of the immensely popular folk tales of King Vikram and the ghost Vetaal.
