The Railway Men: The Untold Story of Bhopal 1984 (2023)
This four-episode series, inspired by true events, is set against the backdrop of the 1984 Bhopal gas leak catastrophe and commemorates the ‘unsung heroes’ of the Indian Railways who rose to the occasion to save hundreds of lives.
Unlike natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, famines, and epidemics, this is a man-made tragedy that could have been avoided if the Indian government had not been so self-serving as to allow a foreign company to manufacture pesticides in their factory without appropriate measures to prevent them. This could be considered a ‘disaster’ themed series.
The series boasts a stellar star cast that includes the likes of R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu Sharma, Babil Khan, Juhi Chawla, Raghubir Yadav, and Mandira Bedi.
Killer Soup (2024)

Her desire and his apprehension about eating the soup indicate something fishy, and this sets the tone for the series. Swathi’s desire to start her restaurant is at the core of the story, but what happens next takes you into a world of deception, falsehoods, transactional relationships, and sheer wickedness.
Killer Soup is a darkly comic thriller with undertones and complexities that will keep you intrigued through and through. Abhishek Chaubey’s killer meal is something you can relish at any time of the day.
Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

Walter and Jesse soon expand to produce larger batches of highly concentrated crystalline blue meth, which attracts incredible demand. Walter adopts the pseudonym “Heisenberg” to conceal his identity and evolves into a devious kingpin.
House of Secrets (2021) Web series
It is a spine-chilling documentary about the mysterious Burari Deaths. The series attempts to explain why a perfectly normal, happy, and financially secure family might suddenly commit suicide.
The Burari deaths were portrayed’ simply to be bizarre’ by the media, according to a professional hypnotherapist on the show, but after following this structure for two episodes, House of Secrets reveals itself to be something more horrendous, terrifying, valuable, and ultimately more satisfying, in its final episode.
The Haunting of Hill House (2018)
The Haunting of Hill House is an American supernatural horror drama web series adapted for the screen and directed by Mike Flanagan. The story switches between two timelines, following five adult siblings whose paranormal experiences at Hill House continue to haunt them in the modern day, and visions detailing events leading up to the fateful night in 1992 when the family escaped the Hill house.
The Guardian named it “the definitive haunted house story”; The New York Times declared that it had “the greatest opening paragraph in the history of horror”; no less than Stephen King, a man who knows a thing or two about the allure of paranormal activity with an appreciation for property value, said it featured “the finest character to come out of [the] new American gothic tradition.”
The Alienist (2018-2020)
The bright, fanatical Kreizler is known as an alienist, who investigates mental diseases and abnormal behaviors in individuals who are estranged from themselves and society. His work, paired with his controversial beliefs, has made him a social outcast within certain quarters. Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story (2022)
There are a dozen stories about psychotic serial killers across OTT Platforms, but Monster: The Jeffery Dahmer Story is one of its kind. Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s depiction of Jeffrey Dahmer’s (Evan Peters) horrible atrocities reveals that this is not simply another serial killer narrative. Jeffrey Dahmer’s narrative is an icon of 1980s America. An America that was slowly but steadily coming to accept its disadvantaged LGBT population while remaining equally deaf to the voices of its black people.
Among the countless shows and films based on Dahmer’s criminal escapades, this one is possibly the most compelling. Because it goes deeply not only into the killer’s mentality but also into the lives of his victims, who are more than simply numbers.
Dark (2017-2020)
After a child goes missing, the show follows the residents of the fictitious German town of Winden as they search for the truth. They piece together a diabolical intergenerational time travel scheme by tracing links between four different families.
Dark received numerous accolades for its ensemble, directing, screenplay, tone, composition, background score, concept, and narrative intricacy. The show was voted as the 58th best TV show of the twenty-first century by the BBC in 2021.
Peaky Blinders (2013-2022)

It focuses on the Peaky Blinders gang and their shrewd, cunning crime lord, Thomas Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy.
The series remains immensely stunning, with magnificent sets, stylish costumes, and haircuts (so much so that it became a trend). Another strength of Peaky Blinders is that it maintains its freshness from season to season and it keeps adding events of history into its narrative.
The show has won numerous accolades for acting, set design, screenplay, and cinematography and it continues to be one of the most popular series of all time and has since developed a cult fan base.
