8 Exciting & Memorable 90s Kids Games

Published

on

Today, the gaming industry has evolved but can’t take the place of the games we used to play as a kid, i.e., 90s kids games. It is the 21st century, and the 90s kids, to our knowledge, don’t seem to have emotionally detached themselves from this phenomenon of video games that was a major source of entertainment for almost everybody in that time. One would study hard to manage certain hours of playtime on their respective video games and finish the level they couldn’t do the day before.

Here’s a list of such childhood games from the 90s that sold like hotcakes at that time and account for our major nostalgia.

8 Exciting & Memorable 90s Kids Games

Super Mario

This was one of the famous 90s kids games. Super Mario games were typically set in a fictional Mushroom kingdom with plumber Mario setting out to rescue Princess Peach. He was often joined by his brother Luigi as Player 2.

The childhood game from the 90s was first released in 1985 by Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) and had several spin-offs and sequels. It is a never-ending time-based game where Mario encounters various enemies and gathers several powers, like throwing a fireball and increasing size.

Battle City-Tank

A Namco-developed game with the Arcade gaming genre, Battle City, first launched in 1985. Initially, this 90s kids game had 35 levels where two or even one players (tank) had to eliminate the opposition of 20 tanks in one level and protect the phoenix-like symbol, which was like a captain of a base, protected by walls.

Contra

One of the most popular 90s kids games was Contra. Launched in 1987 by Konami, Contra was another run-and-shoot game where the hind screen moves along with the soldiers (players 1&2), and on the way forward, you are supposed to shoot all the menaces that come to block your way. Special ammunition came your way as assistance against strong troops to keep the players going. It was one of the most revered childhood games from the 90s.

Roadrash

A foul and violence-loaded bike racing game by EA was launched in 1991 and is still played across the globe as a source of enthralling entertainment. Roadrash, pretty much like a MotoGP, required you to finish a race, but on the go, there were no traffic rules whatsoever. Yes, that means you could bash a cop too! But, while riding your bike.

Adventure Island

Pretty much like Mario, Adventure Island, this childhood game from the 90s was set on an Island setting where the protagonist has to rescue Princess Tina and cross 32 stages for the same, crossing certain hurdles in a level like snails, etc. Adventure Island, too, was one of the most popular 90s kids games.

Tekken

Released in late 1994, Tekken was a hand-to-hand combat game that included blocks, throws, escapes, and ground fighting. It was first developed by Bandai Namco and later got a couple of sequels to its name as well. If one had frustration issues, this was the game to play and bash your opponent and the game remote simultaneously.

Duck Hunt

Duck Hunt was a simple shooter game developed again by NES and launched in 1984, whereas a first-person player was required to shoot onto the flying ducks and earn points. The fascination with this simpleton game came from using a toy gun instead of a console. It really elevated the gameplay at that time.

Excite Bike

Owing to its origins in the Japanese Nintendo again, Excite Bike was launched late in 1984. The awe of the game began when the players could design a race track with 19 types of hurdles in it. Again a side-screen scrolling gameplay-based game required the player to win the first race by coming 3rd or higher in the position board to qualify for a championship race. It also featured a turbo boost to enhance the bike’s speed for a limited period.

Conclusion on 90s Kids Games or the childhood games from the 90s

It is safe to say that these 90s kids games have stayed with us for a long time. There have been gradual upgrades with the money going in and hi-tech coming up. Still, nothing, absolutely nothing can take anything away from the fact that if A Mario, a Roadrash, or Tekken for that matter is plugged in in a TV set, one from the 90s and even early 20s would leave out their chores and sit glued to either play or watch the same on the television sets.

Let us know which childhood games from the 90s are your favorite of all time and the ones you still play.

Remember-Worthy Villains FromThe 90s Cartoons Shows

We all cherish the memories we had as a child. Those days, when we used to sit in front of our television screens and wait for our favorite cartoons were something which we can’t forget. There were always a hero and a villain in almost every show. We had prepared a list of remember-worthy villains from the 90s from the list of our favorite cartoon shows.

Remember-Worthy Villains FromThe 90s Cartoons Shows

Mechanicles from Aladdin

via GIPHY

The main goal of Mechanicles was world domination; well, it became quite scary because he was intelligent but dumb enough to be narcissistic about it. He described himself to be greater than the great Greek geniuses. The gadgets that he developed were all peculiarly based on insects.

The metallikats from SWAT Kats

via GIPHY

They were a pair of robots who terrorized the entire Megakat City. To top it all, they were husband and wife who were, well, unnecessarily evil. Well, they were not robots from the beginning. Professor Hackle turned them into robots to save their lives after they had drowned while trying to flee the prison.

Medusa from the real adventures of Jonny Quest

via GIPHY

Medusa has been one of the scariest villains that we have seen as children. Her ability to turn people into stone has scared us like anything. She gave this show a whole new angle.

Magica De Spell from Duck Tales

via GIPHY

Magica De Spell is an Italian sorceress whose main intention was to steal Scrooge McDuck’s number one Dime as she believed that it would bring her a lot of wealth and fulfill her dream to be super-rich.

Ranger from Dungeons and dragons

via GIPHY

Ranger was a rough and wild-looking character who proved to be a difficult villain to defeat. His extraordinary skills to hunt and be vigilant gave the heroes a tough time.

King Ramses from Courage the Cowardly Dog

via GIPHY

This is probably the most haunting childhood memory that we have. King Ramses was a ghost and had given Courage a curse, and it seemed nearly impossible to defeat him.

Sedusa from The Powerpuff girls

via GIPHY

She was an enemy of the Powerpuff girls who used her feminine wiles and witty nature to woo men and make them do things they probably would not. She was a supervillain who knew how to extract money and make the lives of the Powerpuff Girls tough.

Every small-town person feels lost in not their city, and the same happened with Suvreen. However, she took up every challenge that came her way.

Sadda Haq: My Life, My Choice

Sadda Haq: My Life My Choice

One of the very popular this channel V old shows greatly affected all of us who watched it. Sanyukta’s fight against patriarchy, and her willingness to make her dreams come true despite being disowned by her family, made us all want to fight for our dreams as well. The romance and competition between Sanyukta and Randhir kept us entertained throughout.

Paanch: 5 Wrong Make A Right

Paanch: 5 Wrong Make A Right

Paanch was that serial of our teenagers who introduced us to the world of thrillers. Roshni had a sister who died in her college hostel, but her death always remained a mystery. To find answers and punish the ones responsible for it, Roshni returns to the same college. What happened next was worth all our time.

Swim Team

Swim Team: Channel V

Swim Team showed us the story of ambition, friendship, rivalry, and love. This show covered all the things we needed or had during our teenage years. The girls would compete against one another like anything only to gain that top position in the swimming competitions, and all that was worth the watch. The show made us aware of a lot of things.

V the serial

Review: Channel V's The Serial

This serial showed us some of our favorite TV Actors. The things were scripted, but they had a touch of real-life drama as well. The break-ups, the love affairs, and the gossip kept us all hooked on the show.

Confessions of an Indian teenager

Confessions of an Indian teenager

This Channel V show helped save a lot of people from a lot of problems. It showed some people where they were going wrong in life and how they could come back and protect themselves or reach out for help. Each episode showed the story of an Indian teenager who was in some problem and made an unchangeable mistake in their life. A lot of people got to learn a lot of things from here.

Ye Jawani ta ra ri ri

Ye Jawani ta ra ri ri

Cheeku, Sid, and Dodo are young, confused, and slightly desperate for love. They view love differently and have different expectations from it. The serial was immensely relatable for us as we, too, were trying to find some sort of romantic connection in life and made such a fuss out of every infatuation that came our way.

O Gujariya: Badlein Chal Duniya

O Gujariya: Badlein Chal Duniya

This serial was based in the city of Jabalpur and how the youngsters wanted to make their name and establish their own identity in a place where there was nobody to help them. Like any other serial of Channel V, this too, had all the elements of teenage life.

Crazy Stupid Ishq

Crazy Stupid Ishq

As the name suggests, some crazy, stupid love affairs were happening in this show. Ayaan and Anushka were engaged when they were just little kids and naturally went their ways whilst growing up. They developed very different personalities over time. When they meet, will they carry forward their relation, or will things take a turn? Well, these questions bothered us a lot too.

Mastaangi: One love story, Two lifetimes

Mastaangi - One Love Story Two Lifetimes

Mastaangi was such a serial that kept us all hooked to its storyline. Of course, we never missed one single episode of it. Our duty was to know how lovers from a past lifetime meet one another and rekindle their old romance! We mean, who was not in for a serial that played with the concept of rebirth and finding lost love?

Best Friends Forever?

Best Friends Forever?

Crime, friendship, and trust issues. Did anyone as a teenager need anything more to feed their entertainment-seeking brain? It was a treat to see the characters unravel mysteries day by day, and we all remained glued to our television screens. Also, the girls had some really good acting skills.

D4: get up and dance

D4 - Get Up And Dance

This serial truly inspired us to keep our dreams alive and follow our hearts no matter how hard it gets. The love that Niharika had for dancing could not be suppressed at any cost, and her idol Mikhail helped her overcome many difficulties. The way Niharika fought against her family to pursue her dreams is moving.

We have tried to put in one of the best channel V old shows that were popular and watched by many. However, we might have missed some, but again, that is the whole point of this article, missing things you once loved. Jokes apart, we loved going down memory lane, and we hope you all do too. Here’s to teenagers and everything that made our lives exciting back then.
