Started by Vicky and Shaheen in 2005, Rocknaama evolved into a Sufi Rock band in 2015. In 2016, the lead vocalist was a part of SaReGaMaPa, a popular Zee TV singing reality show. The band performs soulful music in a ‘Modern Contemporary Rock’ style.

Who thought rock music and deep, passionate Urdu and Hindi lyrics would work so well? The Local Train did; since 2008, they’ve been stealing hearts.

The Local Train is a Chandigarh-based Indian rock band in New Delhi since 2015. Raman Negi, lead vocalist, lyricist, and guitarist, Paras Thakur, lead electric guitarist, Ramit Mehra, bassist Ramit Mehra, and drummer and percussionist Sahil Sarin makes up the band’s roster.

Indian Music Band: When Chai Met Toast

When Chai Met Toast is a Kochi-based multilingual indie-folk alternative band, lead vocalist Ashwin Gopakumar, guitarist Achyuth Jaigopal, pianist Palee Francis, and drummer Pai Sailesh make up the band’s roster.

Their credo is that the performance will always groove no matter how big or small the audience is, whether it’s five or 5,000.

Indian Music Artist: MadBoy/Mink

Madboy/Mink is the collaboration of Imaad Shah and Saba Azad, dubbed the terror twins of funk and swing. The duo provides a sincere and unpretentious love of music in their post-mod electro cabaret experience collection, with sparkling live appearances at big festivals and passionate performances at underground parties.

Imaad Shah and Saba Azad’s electro-funk songs will get your toes tapping. Their songs are energizing and innovative.

The F16s are an alternative rock band based in Chennai, India’s southern port city. Harshan Radhakrishnan, keyboardist/manager, vocalist/guitarist Josh Fernandez, bassist Sashank Manohar, and guitarist Abhinav Krishnaswamy make up the band. 

This Indian band will have you dancing to their unique, sometimes strange, but definitely irresistible music.

Clown with a Frown is a new band with a mission to put on lively, colorful, and funky shows. With rock, blues, jazz, and pop elements, their inspirations vary from modern alternative to old-school funk. This group of twenty-year-olds features a brass section in addition to the standard guitar-bass-drums-vocal lineup, resulting in a unique sound.

If you like groovy dance music, Clown with a Frown is the band for you. This Bangalore-based group has been providing us with some strange yet excellent music.

If progressive rock is your thing, Parvaaz is the band for you. For a long time, this Bangalore-based band has been breaking through barriers and introducing people to the delights of progressive rock, and they’re still going strong.

Kashif Iqbal and Khalid Ahamed founded Parvaaz, an Indian rock band, in Bangalore in 2010. Khalid Ahamed (vocals), Fidel Dsouza (bass), Bharath Kashyap (lead guitars), and Sachin Banandur (drums) are the current members of the band (drums and percussion).

Parekh & Singh are an Indian dream-pop duo from Kolkata, West Bengal. Nischay Parekh (vocals, guitar, synthesizers) and Jivraj Singh (drums) make up the pair (drums, electronics).

Their quirky, gorgeous song will make you fall in love with their Wes Anderson attitude and melody, which can only be defined as dream pop.

Indian Music Band: Peter Cat Recording Co.

The Delhi-based band Peter Cat Recording Co. was formed in 2009. Suryakant Sawhney (vocals and guitar), Karan Singh (drums), Dhruv Bhola (bass and samples), Rohit Gupta (keys and trumpet), and Kartik Sundareshan Pillai (keyboards and trumpet) are the members of the band (keyboards, guitar, electronics, and trumpet).

With their wonderful jazz numbers, this Indian band has made us want to listen to them all night with a nice drink and some romance.

These are only a handful of the possibilities. There is a lot more talent in the country waiting to be noticed.
