Batman (1989)
Tim Burton’s classic rendition with Michael Keaton as the Caped Crusader is a must-watch for its intriguing screenplay, phenomenal performances (especially by Jack Nicholson as the Joker), and Burton’s amazing direction!
Batman: The Animated Series (1992)
Because of numerous renditions, the character of Batman has gone through many changes over the years. However, This show follows the gritty and dark route followed by the comics and truly captures the spirit of Batman. In addition to this, all of the classic Batman villains are portrayed with much more depth. It’s probably the best-animated show made about Batman! Watch it for its amazing plot, great soundtrack, and phenomenal performances of the voice cast!
Batman: Mask of the Phantasm (1993)
When Batman is falsely blamed for killing a crime lord connected to his ex-girlfriend, the dark knight plans to find and uncover the mask of the Phantasm. The first film of the DC animated universe and one of the most prominent Batman films from the 90s, it was the one to portray that being Batman isn’t always the best thing. It shows how being Batman is more of a curse than achievement and how Bruce Wayne comes to terms with it.
Batman Begins (2005)
The classic retelling of Batman’s origin story, the only difference here is that Christopher Nolan does it his way! The nonlinear narrative, time usage (The Nolan way), and a phenomenal performance by Christian Bale, Liam Neeson, and Michael Caine make it a great experience!
The Dark Knight (2008)
Any list regarding Batman films is incomplete without this masterpiece! One of the best live-action Batman movies ever made, (re) watches it for its brilliant direction, a hard-hitting narrative, and the perfect characterizations of The Batman and The Joker.
The Dark Knight rises (2012)
The epic conclusion to Nolan’s fantastic trilogy, TDK Rises, is a must-watch!
Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013)
The Flash has to collaborate with a non-existent Justice League to reverse an altered timeline and avoid a war between Aquaman’s Atlantis and Wonder Woman’s Amazons. Not a film that is solely based on Batman, but watch it for the interesting take on the character.
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Part 1&2 (2012-13)
When a gang of mutants ravages Gotham City, Batman is compelled to return from his retirement after ten years only to find himself in mortal combat with the mutants, the Joker, and later on Superman. The film has some fantastic visuals, a great storyline, and epic action sequences that keep you hooked till the end.
Gotham (2014-19)
The show is a true origin story and shows James Gordon’s early days at the Gotham City Police Department following the murder of Bruce’s parents and the origin stories of Batman’s infamous rogue’s gallery. The city of Gotham has always been an integral character in any Batman venture and is portrayed brilliantly here!
The LEGO Batman Movie (2017)
A different take into the world of Batman, in this, Batman tries to save Gotham from Joker, along with Robin and the police commissioner’s daughter, Barbara.
Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021)
Batman sets out to assemble a team of superheroes to fight a catastrophic force called Darkseid, who plans to subjugate humans after Superman’s death in the previous film. A much better version of its predecessor, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, holds to the narrative, brilliantly portrays Batman and other members of Justice League, and provides a satisfying origin to diehard fans!
