Surprisingly, magic realism feels so real in Sweet Tooth. A world with fantastical and magical elements where characters like Gus, the protagonist, come alive is portrayed. Realistic fiction is combined with it to enhance the experience.

A hopeful re-imagination of post-pandemic life

The most important thing that Sweet Tooth instills in us is hope. Originally a dystopian comic by Lemire, this time it’s a hopeful re-imagination of the post-apocalypse life. Hybrids gain recognition as special children and are studied in order to understand more about the Virus.

People who were earlier afraid of them aren’t scared anymore. Hope combined with acceptance is the best thing that can ever happen. The tone is hopeful, and it’s a must in these times of the pandemic.

An intriguing storyline

It all begins with a coughing lady treated by Dr. Aditya Singh. It is declared as H5G9 Virus, also known as The Sick, in a small time span. Surprisingly, animal-human babies, aka hybrids, are born as a result of it.

These children will surely win your heart, and you’ll fall in love with them. Sweet Tooth is set in a decade after the Virus created havoc.
