Sita Ramam (5th August)

Sita Ramam, the epic romantic drama starring Dulquer Salmaan, Mrunal Thakur, and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles, will be released theatrically on 5th August. 

Darlings (5th August)

Alia Bhatt is returning with another interesting project, Darlings, which is roaring high on the success of Gangubai Kathiawadi. Debuting as a producer, Darlings is a dark comedy that stars Shefali Shah and Vijay Verma. Darlings, the Netflix original will be available to stream from 5th August. 

Crash Course – Web Series (5th August)

A new prime original, Crash Course series, is set in Kota and revolves around the lives of eight students who have come to study in Kota’s two biggest and rival coaching centres. The Crash Course series will premiere on the 5th of August on Amazon Prime Video. 

Indian Matchmaking Season 2 (10th August)

Sima Aunty is back with another season of the highly talked about reality show of 2020, Indian Matchmaking, with season 2. The new season comes with many new and familiar faces and will be streaming from 10th August on Netflix.

Akshay Kumar and Anand L. Rai’s new comedy-drama, Raksha Bandhan is all about the beautiful relationship brothers and sisters share. Raksha Bandhan movie will be released on the auspicious day of Raksha Bandhan, on 11th August. 

Laal Singh Chaddha (11th August)

The highly anticipated remake of the classic Forrest Gump will finally release on the 11th of this month. Starring Aamir Khan in the titular role, the story is about Laal, a dim-witted man who does extraordinary things throughout his life. Aamir teams up with Kareena Kapoor after ten years (last seen together in Talaash) and director Advait Chandan after the superhit – The Secret Superstar.

Anurag Kashyap’s time-bending mystery thriller, Do Baaraa, 2:12, stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. A remake of the Spanish film Mirage, Do Baara explores the story of a woman who is hellbent on saving a boy who gets indirectly involved in a murder two decades ago. It will be released on the 19th of the month.

Vijay Deverakonda’s stylish Hindi debut, Liger, is a high-octane sports drama set in the Mixed martial arts (MMA) world. Vijay plays the titular character, an up-and-coming MMA fighter. Also starring Ananya Panday, Ronit Roy, and Ramya Krishna in pivotal roles, the film is simultaneously shot in Hindi and Telugu and features an extended cameo by Mike Tyson. Liger releases on 25th August.

The highly acclaimed and Emmy-winning Netflix original is back with its second season. DCP Vartika Chaturvedi is on the hunt for a new serial killer in town and has to navigate the rising crime in the city. Starring Shefali Shah in the lead role, Delhi Crime season 2 will premiere on 26th August on Netflix.

Brad Pitt returns to the big screen after three years in this action-comedy about Ladybug (Pitt) with Bullet train, a trained killer who boards a Bullet train that starts in Tokyo and has to retrieve a briefcase before the train reaches Kyoto. The twist is that he is not the only one who is after that briefcase. 

DC League of Super-Pets (5th August)

Based on the team Legion of Super-Pets, the DC League of Superpets film is about Krypto, Superman’s dog, who assembles a team of pets with superpowers to find the disappeared Justice League. The voice cast includes Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Keanu Reeves, John Krasinski, and more. Released last month in the US, the DC League of Super-Pets will be theatrically released in India.

The Sandman (5th August)

Based on the DC comics of the same name, this Netflix original, Sandman, is about the titular character, The Sandman. The king of dreams and one of the seven Endless, Morpheus is captured and held captive for 106 years. After escaping, he sets out to restore order to his kingdom of the Dreaming. The epic fantasy will be streaming from 5th August only on Netflix.

Netflix’s hit teenage drama returns for a third season this month and picks up right from the end of season two. With Devi making her relationship public with Paxton, season three starts on a high romantic note until a new entrant decides to complicate the story further.

The newest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe is this limited series, She-Hulk: Attorney at law, about Jennifer Walters, a lawyer and Bruce Banner’s cousin. After accidentally getting cross-contaminated with Bruce’s Blood, she becomes a Hulk-like creature and has to face new fears. She-Hulk will be available to stream on Disney Plus Hotstar starting on 17th August.

Jordan Peele has become one of the most anticipated horror film directors after his Award-winning Academy film Get Out. Following the critically applauded Us, he is back with a new science fiction horror film. Nope, it stars Daniel Kaluuya in the lead and revolves around a ranch where strange incidents occur. Released last month in the US, Nope will enjoy a theatrical release this month in India.

Serving as a prequel to the 2009 horror film Orphan, this revolves around Esther’s escape from the Estonian psychiatric facility and her coming to America. The film will be released on 19th August.

Prequel to one of the greatest and most controversial shows of all time, House of The Dragons is set two hundred years before the events of Game of Thrones and chronicles the beginning of the end of the Targaryen reign. House of the Dragon will be available to stream on Disney plus Hotstar from the 21st of the month.

As a prequel to the 2016 Rogue One, Andor is set five years before the film’s events and follows the thief-turned-Rebel spy Cassian Andor. It will be streaming on Disney plus Hotstar from 31st August.
