Right from its launch, India’s Got Latent by Samay Raina has been on the news either for the controversies or for the funny and talented performers. It was aired on YouTube in June 2024, and at first, it appeared to be a parody of popular talent shows like India’s Got Talent and others. Hosted by comedian Samay Raina, the show not only brought in diverse talents from the country but also had a diverse panel of judges, including Badshah, Siddhant Chaturvedi, and other popular faces.
When Samay Raina, popular for his dark comedy, hosts a show, controversies will churn up. After all, comedy is subjective. Among the most enjoyed performers of India’s Got Latent, Bhavya Shah has to be one! His journey surely inspired the Internet since, at the age of twelve, he lost his sight yet excelled as an academician and performer.
On the show, he changed comedy by providing clever and fresh jokes. Bhavya’s comedy enthralled the viewers. His quirky jokes on perceptions about disabilty were astonishingly funny and humorous, with some dark twists at times. Undoubtedly the audienece had a blast with his jokes and punchlines!

His distinctive performance as a rapper not only impressed the judges but also made the audience groove. He showcased his versatility as an artist by amalgamating comedy into his rap and beatboxing.

This India’s Got Latent performer was why most of us binge-watched the show. One of the show’s best performers, Naman Arora, gained popularity for his fresh sketch comedy and extravagant acting skills. His stand-up comedy set was wittily funny, but what stole the show was his character—so much so that most of us thought the character was his real personality.

Apart from comedy, Santosh Patra has to be the choice if the fans enjoy someone for their physical prowess. His performance was much valued for his yoga and flexibility. But Patra was a loved and funny participant in India’s Got Latent, not just for his ability to generate waves with his abs but also for his clever answers. Though his performance soon grew gloomy, it was interesting and original.

Bunty Banerjee
Featured on India’s Got Latent’s tenth episode, Bunty Banerjee got into trouble after making jokes about Deepika Padukone’s depression and the startling Kolkata rape case. Outrage took centre stage in what swiftly evolved from a comedy act to a controversy! She began with a somewhat funny set, showcasing her wit and comic skills with a great series of relatable jokes. However, some of her viral jokes weren’t accepted much by the Internet.
Though initially, the judges loved her comedy, there was a lot of indignation for her jokes about Deepika’s struggle with depression, motherhood, and a delicate event in Kolkata. She was funny with some of her jokes about cultural stereotypes, but overall, her performance stayed controversial for a while.
Priyanka Haldar
Featured as a “costume-cutter” model, Priyanka Halder was in the columns for her debatable and controversial statements on the show. She participated in episode 10 of the show, where she posed as a model while her friend showcased his skill as a costume cutter. Though initially their creativity was applauded, later, her statements on being married and a mother to a 15-year-old son sparked online controversies.
As the episode aired, her statements were scrutinized to label them as a publicity stunt and brought her hatred and allegations of cheating on her husband. Despite all the debatable statements, the panel, including Tony Kakkar and Bharti Singh, were nice to her and appreciated the performance.
