Britta is shown to be a fake activist who only speaks radical thoughts and never acts upon them. The show constantly jokes about her acting like she is on a higher moral ground than everyone else. But slowly, as the show progresses, she starts acting on her thoughts and becomes a better person who does what she believes in instead of just talking.
Abed is suggested to be someone who most likely has autism spectrum disorder and can communicate with others through pop culture references. Throughout the series, he grows and can have more than surface-level friendships and connect with people emotionally.
Troy Barnes was a high schooler football who injured himself. He goes into community college expecting to be the most popular, but instead, he becomes friends with Abed, who is a nerd, and learns to accept himself for his other interests.

Ben Chang was initially a side character, but Ken Jeong made him iconic enough to become a permanent one. He is an insane person who is completely irrational, and he doesn’t experience much growth during the series, but he is also a huge part of its essence.
